Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas Review (My Blog's Name in Books #1)

First I'm apologizing for taking so long to start the challenge. Then I'm apologizing to myself for only reading this book now! WHY HAVEN'T I DONE IT SOONER!
Well... let´s get to it!
The first out of nine books.
While I'm writing this, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around everything. I haven't t read a thriller in a while and this book totally served my craving for one.

My Review: So this group of teenagers went on a vacation and one of them ends up brutally murdered in a place where almost nothing happens. Another one will have to fight the accusations that almost everyone cast her way, of being guilty of said crime. Even her friends and people she thought of like family... they were all supposed to help her. The book follows her trial and how she tries to prove to all of them she is innocent.
"Wouldn't we all look guilty, if someone searched hard enough?"
One thing I can tell you about this book without giving much of it away is that it basically revolves around betrayal, and trust me when I say it will betray you too. It did to me. Slowly. Painfully. Even though I kinda saw it coming...
I have these things I try to avoid doing on every thriller I read/watch:
I always try to go in blind, sometimes I don't even look at the blurb/plot and I never look at the reviews/opinions of other people. So most of the time I just let the cover captivate me but of course, that doesn't always work in my favor... When people say never judge a book by its cover they are right on some level of it. I've found hidden gems behind not so pleasing covers, but I've also been misled by some designs that weren't accompanied by stories that I loved. In this case, I sneaked a peek at the blurb but stood far away from anything else.
Avoiding this next one is almost impossible for me. It can ruin an entire thriller for me and oh how my brain likes to do it. Yes, I'm talking about trying to figure out what will happen; Thinking about what could be the most unexpecting turn the book could take, while still reading is the worst thing I can do when the whole point is to be surprised/shocked in the end. Still, I do it so many times and this book was no exception. So here I was maybe at the 60% mark when one of the scenarios that came to my mind was actually what ended up happening.
So why the 5-star review, you ask?
Well, first because even though it crossed my mind, it was one out of so many theories I came up with. While I was going from one page to the other I was juggling between all of them. I was stuck in this vicious cycle of being sure of something just to be doubting it again in the next second. Also, because when the idea of it came to me, I was refuting it right after, being absolutely sure there was no way of it happening. So, imagine me shocked and gasping WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK when I got to the end and you will get the picture correctly.
The writing and the whole way the book is made, when we see transcripts of evidence material used in the trial and the way it goes back and forth in time, were all aspects I really liked.
"Any one of us could be made to look a monster, with selective readings of our history..."
So what I'm getting at with all of this is... GOOO READ THIS BOOK IF YOU FANCY THRILLERS AND LOVE THE SUSPENSE BUILDING UP TO ALMOST THE ABSOLUTE LAST PAGE.
And that's it, folks!
I'm super excited for the second book in this challenge. Not sure when I will be finishing it though, my college exams are coming in a few weeks and I am already panicking.
